Backstory Threads for AU Event in Ryslig

AU Story Snippet Overload from Ryslig's AU Event . Thank you for creating such a well for ideas ~~
This is the link to Runyu's top level and Runyu's Thread with Phoenix about his mother's disappearance that are a part of this AU.
Additional information to Runyu's Story: Runyu changed his name when he was adopted (officially) by his father: Taiwei Wuyishan. Before he was adopted at the age of 11, he went by the name of Runyu Wang, using his mother's name.
The Wang family is old money like the Wuyishan family but not as ostentatious and loud about it. They’re a family of artists, from musicians to painters and proprietors of expensive stores for the arts (musical instruments to antiques). His mother was a musician and met Taiwei there. After her affair, Suli’s music faded and she rarely left the house. Runyu was raised on the other side of town, officially as part of the larger extended family to hide the scandal (and to hide his existence from Tuoyao Wuyishan?). Suli even took her cousin's name. She lived life as if in a daze, lapsing between needy and distant, teaching her son music or throwing violent fits. Runyu was a quiet, studious child, and taught to keep his head down no matter what was said about him by bullies in school, and that the truth would be explained when he was older. Runyu nearly succeeded in following his mother's wishes through all of elementary school. But then, an incident caught the eye of Taiwei and he realized they were related. The affair was leaked to the press.
Soon after, Runyu's mother disappeared and the Wang family was destroyed, suffering a series of losses in their financial adventures and falling to a series of monster attacks after losing their fame. The press could not reach Runyu because he was shipped to a school out of town by his stepmother, hoping to keep her son from becoming attached to him.
Runyu has long black hair, usually tied back, like he does in Ashes of Love canon (and unlike Luo Yunxi's image) because his mother's side is more traditional and it's part of a small, silent resentment of the life he's been forced to lead. He wears a bracelet that his mother gave him shortly before disappearing and plays a flute Taiwei gave him when adopting him, which belonged to his mother. ]
Silver Lining in Dark Dealings
He wouldn’t be able to rest until it was finished, both shipping the parts to their new owners and the event itself.
As a subordinate of his stepmother wheels in a tray upon which a nymph’s limbs have been transformed into the stands for glittering lamps, Runyu’s eyes narrow and he turns away, clutching at his left arm. It’s a nervous habit when his bruised limb is already throbbing from punishment because his mind is already damning him for attending an event that profits off death. His lips thin as a woman in a red dress enters on the arm of her husband, laughing about needing new antlers to hang her collection after today.
He has some time before his stepmother sends someone to inspect, a few moments before he has to mingle with the hypocrites. ]

but of course it has. he'd made every possible effort to arrive before the listed time - as soon as he was able to arrive, really, since he rushed here quite quickly upon finding out where they'd been taken - but it hadn't quite occurred to him that the listed time was when the main event was set to begin.
those whom he sought had no place in the 'main event'. their parts matter only slightly more to these people than their lives had.
his arrival is far more conspicuous than he intended (or even realizes), especially to those who might be watching for any sign of disturbance. his hair is far longer than most of the men here, his clothes tidy but ill-suited to the event (and nearly white in color, conspicuous in its own right) - and he enters with a quiet urgency in each controlled step, in his eyes as he scans the auction room. xingchen pauses here, at a loss for who exactly to speak to, but then they announce a nymph-arm lamp and his eyes close with a bracing breath.
then he's in movement even before his eyes quite open again, and when they do, they're fixed on the nearest employee whom xingchen has seen address the auctiongoers on their way in. the man in question is standing just close enough that runyu might overhear, ) I'll buy them all, everything from this lot. I can pay, just - please, tell them to stop. ( but the man dismisses him (almost certainly assumes he's running some sort of scam, since he doesn't look the sort to have money of any kind nor to buy or deal in monster parts), turning to head off toward an employees-only door to check on something backstage - and xingchen steps after him, hands curled to shaking fists and tone sharper with desperation. ) You don't understand, you have to- ( nope, he's not stopping, ) I said that I'd pay you, I can show you, I have the money right h- ( but he doesn't even have time to reach into his pocket before the man has disappeared, leaving xingchen staring helplessly after him, mouth still slightly open in unfinished pleading.
but then, his gaze drops to the floor (for as much as it counts as 'gaze', it's unfocused and burning with tears he refuses to shed in this place) with a shaky exhale, lips pressing together. this lasts for a short couple of seconds, barely enough time to draw his breath back in, when the auctioneer announces the lamps have been sold and xingchen's in motion again as if he's been burned. he whirls now, heading for the door at barely short of a jog. he can't quite see where he's going, and his shoulder collides with someone before he's gotten far, but he fumbles out a quiet choked, ) Forgive me, I'm- I have to go- ( and continues on toward the door.
what a shame that he's mixed up the exits. that particular door is really just going to get him lost in some remote wing of the lodge. )

Runyu pushes the door open and blinks in the semi-darkness.
The man must have hit the light switch in his stumbling suffering movements.
Runyu moves on, leaving the light off to buy himself some time.
A flash of white has him turning the right corner and he increases his pace, reaching out and grabbing the man’s shoulder with his good arm before reaches another set of doors. ]
You don’t want to go that way.
